Golden Fleece Award launches newly-designed logo and website

The Trustees of the Helen Lillias Mitchell Artistic Fund are excited to announce the launch of the Golden Fleece Award’s newly-designed logo and website,  www.goldenfleeceaward.com.

The new logo is based on the hand-lettered text of the original emblem created by the Award’s founder, Lillias Mitchell, for the Golden Fleece Weaving Workshop that she established at 84 Lower Mount Street, Dublin 2 in 1946.

The goal with the new website was to create a more user-friendly platform that would highlight the quality of work and diversity of creative practices supported by the Golden Fleece Award. Following this brief, Pixel Design developed a clean and uncluttered image-led design that focuses on the work of past Award winners and shortlisted artists across both the Visual Art and Craft & Applied Art categories.

From the homepage, prospective applicants and interested members of the arts sector and general public will find useful information about the history of the Award, how it is managed, who sits on the Board of Trustees and Advisory Panel, application guidelines and criteria, and information about the life and work of Lillias Mitchell. The ‘Artists’ section of the site showcases work by Golden Fleece Artists, and will eventually expand to include all past winners and shortlisted applicants from the inaugural 2002 Award to the present day.

When the call for applications for the 2020 Award is opened in late August 2019 the website will also feature a new and improved online application form which will make it easier for visual artists, makers and designers to apply for the Award.

Keeping Golden Fleece Artists to the fore, the website also contains integrated links to the Award’s social media accounts (Twitter, Instagram and Facebook) where the Trust regularly shares information about Golden Fleece Artists’ current exhibitions, events, publications, etc.
