About the maker:  

Graduating in 1995 with a degree in 3-Dimensional Design from De Montfort University, Leicester, Helen learned to work with both glass and clay but was more intuitively drawn to the earthy, tactile quality of clay.

After time spent living, working and raising a family in England, South Africa and Portugal, she returned to Belfast in 2019. Having been offered the opportunity to convert an old farmyard grain store into a studio space, she established “The Barleyhouse.” Originally conceived as a more flexible ‘events’ space, it soon became a dedicated pottery studio, and Barleyhouse Ceramics came into being.

Helen is a member of North Down Craft collective (NDCC) and sells the majority of her work through the thriving, local Arts and Crafts market scene, most recently at Belfast Potter’s Market, with NDCC at Castle Espie and a variety of other upcoming events.
