Silver Moss Bowl With Peat Base
Made by Sharon Adams
Large silver moss bowl with peat base handmade by Sharon Adams in Co. Antrim.
Materials: bowl hallmarked sterling silver, base peat. Approximate size: bowl diameter 6.5cm, peat base: length 8.5cm width 6.5cm.
This Moss Bowl is part of Sharon Adams’ ongoing exploration of the area that sits within the horizon surrounding her home and studio. It echos the glint from a pool of water lying in the cool depths of a peat bog. The peat used was cut on the Star Bog using spades Sharon made during the Film Makers project.
After care: sterling silver can be gently cleaned with warm soapy water. The peat will crumble over time, you can keep it, or pop it in the fire.
About the maker:
“My practice explores the theme of work and tools.
Using wood, metal and textiles, I make functionless tools which invite the viewer to imagine what they might be used for.
By repeating ideas and forms I dig into their essential qualities and explore connections and memories.”
