£42.00

Made by Gail Kelly

‘Tree Tops’ square unframed mount, linocut on Irish linen by Gail Kelly. Handmade in County Down, Northern Ireland.

Text on the back: ‘Linen is synonymous with Ireland. For hundreds of years generations of skilled weavers have produced this unique fabric known the world over for its superior quality and classic beauty. The Celtic people of Ireland revered trees not only as a vital source of food, fuel and building materials but also believed them to be sacred and assigned various attributes to different species.’

TREE TOPS – Crows are sociable, territorial birds living in extended family groups. The ‘crow’s nest’ look out pots on the mast of a sailing ship takes its name from the crows building their nests in the tree tops. They are associated with intelligence, wisdom and destiny.

An original linocut printed on Irish linen, made by hand in Gail’s studio using her victorian cast iron press. Supplied ready to frame in a soft white mount, signed by the artist.

Approximate size: mount – height 25cm, width 25cm image – 14cm x 14cm
