Reflect is a collection shaped by the idea of broken reflections—capturing the mix of connection and distance felt when navigating a culture that’s partly yours, partly unfamiliar. Each hand-tufted piece is made in reverse, revealing stitching usually hidden, and expressing both joy and frustration in the search for belonging.

About the Maker

Amanda studied at Camberwell College of Arts and National College of Art and Design. Form, colour, home and belonging are central themes in her work. Amanda is a British Artist, born to Mauritian parents. She has been living in Ireland for nearly 20 years. Living in London, to Mauritian parents then making a move to Ireland, Amanda was always asked ‘Where are you from?’ bringing up questions around Identity, Home, and Displacement.

Now, by using a new medium of tufting with wool, Amanda is revisiting ideas she explored in her thesis surrounding displacement, hybridity, and being ‘In-between’. Her wall hanging art pieces are a reflection of a body of work to tease out some of the ideas and emotions of Belonging and ‘Home’.
