About the maker:
Helen Shearer makes a range of porcelain jewellery and framed porcelain illustrations.
After graduating from the University of Ulster’s College of Art and Design, Helen spent over 30 years in Art Education in addition to developing her own practice in ceramics. She now works full-time from her studio that she shares with her husband the potter Rory Shearer.
Helen’s influences are undoubtedly taken from the natural world. Her jewellery is whimsical and decorative; little pieces of porcelain that are made to be worn comfortably every day. Her framed porcelain illustrations carry a strong rural narrative and are inspired by the rustic countryside around her home in Co. Antrim.
